![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Like several good ‘disability films’ this is regrettable, especially as the feelings and thoughts such a film invoked in me are those related to the impacts of society’s organisation of ‘normality’. If you get a chance to see it I would advise grasping it, as it is clearly being treated as a niche film, of little interest to the commercial interests of cinemas, or to wider audiences. I have searched for screenings in the UK over the last few weeks, and it has only shown in very few cinemas, mainly in the South of England – e.g., Hastings and London. I saw The Reason I Jump and wanted to write about it before now, but felt I needed to see it again to do it justice, and to take a more measured approach to a film which felt so poetic that I couldn’t quite figure out what I had just watched. For me it felt like the antithesis of, or antidote to, Sia’s ‘Music’. This is an extraordinarily seductive film. ![]()
